After working on the scout team the entire fall during his redshirt year, McMullen joined the top defense this spring and immediately caught the coaches’ attention. This is the dude who had scholarship offers from Ohio State, Notre Dame and Michigan State, so it’s no surprise that he made a splash.

As a senior at Hoban (Ohio) High School, McMullen recorded 78 tackles, 12 1⁄2 sacks and 14 stops behind the line of scrimmage.

It’s too bad McMullen couldn’t play during Nebraska’s spring game in April. He’d spent the weeks leading up to that weekend earning high praise, specifically performing well in the team’s final scrimmage.

He’ll have to wait until the end of next month to showcase all that improvement. NU could use another impact player at that defensive end spot.
