Husker Camp Countdown: No. 16 Thad Randle
Sam McKewon Omaha World-Herald

From now until the start of fall camp, The World-Herald will be counting down the top 50 players you need to know heading into the 2013 football season.

Thad Randle | 6-foot-1 | 290 pounds | Sr. | DT

His knees could tell a lot of stories. Randle’s battled through quite a few injuries to arrive at this point, where his health — and success — could be critical to the Huskers’ defensive line. Randle sat out the spring to heal. He’ll have to be at full strength in the fall, because there isn’t any experienced depth behind him.

Randle’s started six career games — all last year — showing good leverage against the run. He won’t be asked to do much as a pass rusher except push the pocket and hold his ground. Nebraska could even find a blitz package that takes Randle off the field at times. But he’ll be crucial to NU’s run defense, which is the far greater concern heading into 2013 anyway.
