Volunteer interim head coach Matt Rogers has been promoted to head coach of the Creighton men’s and women’s cross country programs, the university announced Friday.
Rogers had been serving as the interim coach for both teams since Chas Davis resigned on March 1.
“Accepting this position was a very easy decision for myself and my wife,” said Rogers in a press release. “Ever since we arrived in Omaha and at Creighton, we have felt that this is our new home and we are supposed to be here. Every day at Creighton is a blessing and an opportunity.”
Prior to his work with the Bluejays, Rogers served as a volunteer coach at St. Joseph’s Academy in St. Augustine, Fla., from 2010-12.
The Creighton men’s team finished ninth in the Missouri Valley Conference last season, while the women came in 10th at the MVC Championships. Creighton joined the Big East on July 1.
