Husker Camp Countdown: No. 13 Josh Mitchell
Rich Kaipust Omaha World-Herald

From now until the start of fall camp, The World-Herald will be counting down the top 50 players you need to know heading into the 2013 football season.

Josh Mitchell | 5-foot-11 | 160 pounds | Jr. | Cornerback

Small in stature but a big heart (and potential leader) on this Husker defense. Mitchell relies on his athleticism and his ability to make plays on the ball. That led to an increase in playing time at cornerback last season, when he started eight games at a position where Nebraska again will be stacked in 2013.

Ciante Evans remains the Huskers’ top corner, but his utilization in the nickel package puts the spotlight on Mitchell, Stanley Jean-Baptiste, Andrew Green, Mohammed Seisay and others. Mitchell was credited with 29 tackles and five pass breakups last season, when he was an Academic All-Big Ten pick.
