Husker Camp Countdown: No. 12 Corey Cooper
Rich Kaipust Omaha World-Herald

From now until the start of fall camp, The World-Herald will be counting down the top 50 players you need to know heading into the 2013 football season.

Corey Cooper | 6-foot-1 | 210 pounds | Jr. | Safety

The past few seasons have been a little frustrating, Cooper admitted last spring, but there’s a chance for him to wash that away as the Huskers look for two new starters at safety.

NU must replace Daimion Stafford and P.J. Smith, and Cooper has one of the best angles on a job if he can keep progressing.

His size and versatility serve him well at one of the most important positions in a Bo Pelini defense. So far, Cooper has not only played safety but dabbled at cornerback and both dime and nickel roles. Also, Cooper will have the same position coach (Terry Joseph) for the second straight season for the first time in his Husker career.
