Report: Ohio State suspends star runner
Lee Barfknecht Omaha World-Herald

Ohio State’s No. 1 running back, Carlos Hyde, was suspended from the team Monday, according to a report from the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch.

Hyde, a senior who ran for 970 yards and 16 touchdowns last season, has been named as “a person of interest” in an assault of a female at a downtown Columbus bar early Saturday morning.

His absence would create a huge hole in the OSU depth chart at running back. The top backup — junior Rod Smith — had just 215 yards in 32 carries last season.

Ohio State also is looking into a weekend bar altercation in Indiana involving All-America cornerback Bradley Roby.
