Camp Chatter: Husker football practice, Aug. 6
Sam McKewon Omaha World-Herald

Some key sights and sounds from NU’s practice Tuesday:

>> Nebraska running backs coach Ron Brown doing push-ups while wearing a knee brace. Brown is seven weeks out of knee reconstruction surgery.

>> Husker kickers Mauro Bondi, Sam Foltz and Pat Smith serving as scout-teamers during walkthroughs. The three wore mesh jerseys wrapped tightly around their helmets.

>> Lots of signaling. Instead of running its usual outdoor no-huddle drill with music blaring from speakers hitched up to a John Deere work vehicle, the Husker offense worked inside against a simulated defense. No music this time. Just voices and signaling.

>> “I think we have a group of guys on this football team who are hungry. And I think they’re out to prove something. But it’s easy right now. Let’s face the facts. It’s easy when you’re one, two practices in. It’s going to be how this team responds as this camp goes on.” — NU coach Bo Pelini
