Camp Chatter: Husker football practice, Aug. 8
Sam McKewon Omaha World-Herald

Some key sights and sounds from NU’s practice Thursday:

>> End Randy Gregory and tackle Maliek Collins, two of the stronger performers early in fall camp, walking off together after practice, talking defense.

>> Running back Imani Cross, again winning the non-sanctioned award for last Husker off the field.

>> “In terms of depth of talent, it’s as good as we’ve had since we’ve been here. I’m not saying this is going to be the best defense we’ve had — quotes can sometimes get misconstrued because of that. What I am saying is that, athletically and talent-wise, over the course of the next couple years, we’re going to be an athletic group and I feel good about the direction we’re heading on defense. More depth. More speed. More athleticism.” — Defensive coordinator John Papuchis
