Class B takes the stage this week, with a new post each day. Let us know in the comments how you think each team will finish, as well as the players you’ll be watching.

* * *

CLASS B NO. 2 NORRIS
District B-5

Coach: Jim Jacobsen, fourth season

Last season: Finished the season 10-3, losing in the finals to Omaha Gross 14-7.

Returning starters:

QB/LB Jakson Reetz (Sr.), WR/S AJ Flodman (Sr.), FB/LB Nolan Graham (Sr.), FB Riley Kentfield (Jr.),TE/DE Josh Gutzmer (Sr.), LB CJ Adamson (Sr.), DB Byron Hood (Sr.).

KEY DEPARTURE

James Kruger, RB: Kruger had 4,827 rushing yards in his career and 2,294 his senior season.

KEY RETURNING PLAYER

Reetz: The senior quarterback and linebacker led the team in tackles.

ON OFFENSE

The Titans use multiple looks, and benefit from the return of Reetz. Norris will have to find someone to replace Kruger’s production. Reetz threw for 644 yards and rushed for 633 last season. He’ll need even more yardage this year for Norris to return to the state championship.

ON DEFENSE

The defensive line needs to replace three of the four starters, but three returning starters at linebacker should help the defense adjust. The Titans return their four leading tacklers from a season ago and like to mix up formations. This should be a solid unit.

GAME TO WATCH

Gretna, Sept. 13.

DISTRICT OPPONENTS

Crete, Beatrice, Seward

COACH’S QUOTE

“Each year we just start out from square one and try to get better the next practice. We try to get better down the stretch. We focus on trying to get better as a team.”
