Another big Iowa loss; this time, recruiting
Lee Barfknecht Omaha World-Herald

Iowa’s top football recruit for the Class of 2014, Ross Pierschbacher, has decommitted from the Hawkeyes and pledged to attend Alabama.

This is another big blow to Hawkeye coach Kirk Ferentz’s sagging program.

First, Pierschbacher lives in Cedar Falls, Iowa, which is about 70 miles from Kinnick Stadium, Second, he is an offensive lineman, which is Ferentz’s speciality.

Yet the homestate kid who grew up cheering for Iowa and said in January he would accept an Iowa scholarship is going elsewhere.

Pierschbacher also had offers from Nebraska, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Stanford and Wisconsin.
