Video: Behind the scenes in the Husker locker rooms, player lounge
Big Red Today Omaha World-Herald

Every once in a while, Nebraska opens the doors to offer an inside look at the facilities where the players you know spend their time getting set for game day.

On Wednesday NU did just that, posting a behind-the-scenes video to the Huskers’ YouTube account. In the video, junior wideout Kenny Bell joins NU media relations intern Maggie Still to record a video walkthrough of the Husker locker room and player lounge.

The lounge puts just about any game room to shame, featuring ping pong, an engraved shuffleboard table, a pool table fashioned to resemble a miniature football field, a tribute to Huskers in the NFL and more. Bell said it’s not out of the ordinary for the football players to get into a heated tournament, though it’s not always fun and games.

“I’m not very good at any game in here,” Bell quipped. “It can be very exciting when you’re not me, because I don’t win.”

The locker room comes complete with keypad locks on each locker, giving each player a safe place to store their iPad playbooks, football gear and other personal items.

In general, Bell had nothing but praise.

“The facilities are one of the big things that attracted me to Nebraska,” Bell said. “You really can’t say enough about how lucky we are to have such great facilities.”
