The UNO women also will try to keep heading in the right direction when they play at Northern Iowa (1-3) at 7 p.m. Friday, then take on Wyoming (1-1-1) at 1 p.m. Sunday at the UNO Soccer Field.
The Mavericks (1-3) dominated play and used second-half goals from Ava Doetsch and Melanie McCormick to beat North Dakota 2-0 last Sunday.
McCormick also had an assist, giving her a team-leading three points. Meaghan Clark made three saves to earn her second career shutout.
UNO men seeking first win of season against Columbia
The UNO men, 0-2 after a promising preseason, will try to bounce back Sunday when they host Columbia at 11 a.m. at the UNO Soccer Field.
The Mavericks lost to Grand Canyon 2-1 and to Missouri State 1-0 in double overtime last weekend despite outshooting both opponents.
They’ve netted just one of their 27 shots on goal. That was on a penalty kick by Emir Alihodzic.
Columbia plays its first game Friday at Creighton. The Lions were 4-8-4 last season with a 2-3-2 record in the Ivy League.
