Men’s soccer: Bluejays No. 1 for first time since 1999

For the first time since September 1999, Creighton is the top-ranked men’s soccer team in the nation.

The Bluejays sit atop the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll released Tuesday.

The Jays (3-0-0) received 11 votes, two more than second-ranked North Carolina, following a 3-1 victory over Columbia last weekend. Creighton held a slim 557-553 point advantage over the Tar Heels in the poll.

CU, which was ranked as high as No. 2 in each of the past three seasons, has now been ranked for 39 consecutive weeks.
