Third quarter: Bruins put up 28 points
Rich Kaipust Omaha World-Herald

UCLA stunned Nebraska with a 28-point third quarter, going from down 21-10 at halftime to ahead 38-21 after 45 minutes of football.

The Bruins scored on all four third-quarter possessions, the last three with touchdown passes from Brett Hundley.

Nebraska went three-and-out offensively before the second and third of those scores. It also came up short on a fake punt to set up the last one as UCLA took over at the Huskers’ 44.

Hundley’s TD passes covered 28 yards to Shaquelle Evans, 12 to Phillip Ruhl and 3 to Sam Handler. The first of the four scores came on a 3-yard run by Jordan James.

Hundley completed 8 of 8 passes in the third quarter for 129 yards.

Also in the third:

>> Nebraska came out of halftime with a drive that included three first downs, but stalled at the Bruins’ 41 and finished with a punt.

>> NU kept alive one of the Bruins’ series with a roughing-the-passer penalty on safety Corey Cooper.

>> The Huskers snapped the football to defensive tackle Brodrick Nickens on its fake punt, and Nickens only picked up 2 of the 3 yards that NU needed.
