Nebraska coach Bo Pelini appeared on the “On Campus with Bill King” show on Sirius XM radio — Pelini makes a weekly appearance, generally, but pushed it back a day — and intimated that more information about who leaked audio of his profane rant to Deadspin could come out later today.
Here’s the audio:
Here’s a transcript of that portion of the interview:
Pelini: I want to make sure — the most important thing to me is that I’m on the same page as far as what’s going on as far as my athletic director and the administration. I don’t want to say anything and do anything until we’re on the same page and all the things we’re do to investigate this and get to the bottom of things to move forward that we’re on the same page. I don’t want to say too much until we’re all together and do it the right way.
King: Oh, I get it. Here’s my only concern: Are you suggesting you have something to say about your future or is this strictly the tape?
Pelini: I think the whole — eventually, this thing needs to get put to rest. You can’t put anything to rest until everybody’s on the same page, all the investigation’s been done, all of the due diligence has been done. That involves more than just me. It involves — there was a lot to this. And so, at the end of the day, it doesn’t make any sense to just rush to judgment, rush to statements or that type of thing until everybody can do their job.
King: I get it, Bo. But a lot of Nebraska fans — and people listening across the country listening — are you confident about your future there? That’s my question.
Pelini: Am I confident about my future? Yes.
King: Correct. At Nebraska.
King: I just want to make sure because some of the things you’re saying might worry some people. So I want to make sure I at least get you to go there with me so I can clear up.
Pelini: I have confidence in the support I have in and around me. And I’ve said that. This is where I want to be. This is where, you know, where I want to be. And the administration – like I said — people are wondering why don’t this person make a statement or all this other stuff, there’s work that has to be put into a situation like this. You know where I’m coming from? If you rush to something, you don’t have all the fact. The facts have to be brought out, people have to do their jobs, that takes time. Everybody on our team have done just that — and are doing just that.
King: Is it important to find out who did this?
Pelini: I think we’re a lot closer to that if it hasn’t been completely determined already.
King: Are you telling me you think you know who it is?
Pelini: I have an idea.
