‘Thursday Night Showdown’ capsule: Millard South vs. Millard West
Stu Pospisil Omaha World-Herald

TV: KXVO (Cox Channel 11)
Live streaming video: NEPrepZone.com
When: 7 p.m. (pregame show starts at 6:30)
Where: Buell Stadium, 14905 Q St.

When Millard South (1-2) has the ball: The Patriots aren’t clicking on offense, scoring only 16 points in their consecutive losses. Three-year starting quarterback Anthony Cloyd, an elusive runner, will have to avoid the rush of Stanford recruit Harrison Phillips and the Wildcats’ defensive front.

When No. 5 Millard West (2-1) has the ball: The Wildcats lack a consistent ground gainer, with quarterback Ross Drwal the main threat. He’s also been dinged the past two weeks late in games. All-Nebraska wide receiver Skyler Monaghan will be the focus of the Patriots’ secondary.

Stu’s pick: Last week’s loss to Omaha Burke should have sent a message to the Millard West defense. The Wildcats, unless they lose the turnover battle, should bounce back with a win.
