Pelini writes letter to apologize, ‘personally thank’ fans
Big Red Today Omaha World-Herald

Nebraska football coach Bo Pelini posted a letter Friday to apologize and “personally thank” Husker fans for their support following the release of a profane 2011 audio recording in which the coach was heard cursing “fairweather” fans.

“This past week has obviously been a difficult one for many people associated with the University of Nebraska and our football program,” Pelini said in the “Coach’s Corner” post on Huskers.com.

“We all make mistakes in our lives, both personally and professionally, and like everyone else I am human,” Pelini said.

The coach expressed remorse at his comments, which he said were not representative of his true feelings (something former A.D. Tom Osborne suggested Thursday), before declaring it “an honor to lead our football team into Memorial Stadium in front of more than 91,000 fans for each home game.”

You can see the timeline of events in the release of the recording, our collection of videos and a full list of coverage from The World-Herald.
