CNN spinoff network HLN is bringing its “Rivalry Express” tour to Lincoln this weekend.

The third stop on the tour, part of HLN’s “Morning Express with Robin Meade” show, will include live broadcasts from 5 to 9 a.m. Friday. Nebraska plays at 11 a.m. Saturday against Illinois.

The coverage, anchored by HLN’s Carlos Diaz and Bob Van Dillen, will originate from the network’s 45-foot tour bus stationed at Union Plaza at 14th and R Streets. HLN (formerly Headline News) encourages fans to demonstrate their team spirit during the broadcast.

Among the festivities planned by the network:

>> Appearances by the Nebraska Cheer Squad, Scarlets Dance Team and mascots Herbie Husker and Lil’ Red
>> Nebraska Alumni Association’s homecoming fan competition
>> Musical performances by the Cornhusker Marching Band, Rocktavo, Graduate Jazztet, UNL Vocal Jazz, Bathtub Dogs, Boots and Cats, and Pitch, Please.
>> A mechanical bull

The network put together the video below to promote the event, and you can find more details in the university’s press release and on HLNtv.com:
