Bluejays Today Omaha World-Herald

The Creighton women’s basketball team was picked to finish second in its first season in the Big East in a preseason poll of league coaches.

Senior Sarah Nelson and freshman Marissa Janning were named to the preseason All-Big East team. Nelson was a member of the 2012-13 MVC all-defensive team as well as a MVC first-team selection. Janning was the MVC freshman of the year and a first-teamer.

DePaul, which earned an at-large bid to the NCAA championships, was the top choice to win the league title.

Creighton finished in second place with 67 points, including two first-place votes. The Bluejays are coming off a 25-8 season and a trip to the NCAA tournament.

Third place went to St. John’s, followed by Villanova, Marquette, Georgetown, Butler, Providence, Xavier and Seton Hall.
