Scouting Lincoln: The Division II Blue Tigers are former Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association opponents of UNO. Lincoln rejoined the MIAA in 2010-11, UNO’s last season in the league. The teams split two games, with each team winning at home. … Like the Mavericks, Lincoln returns one starter and three letterwinners. … Lincoln tied for eighth in the 15-team MIAA last season at 6-12. For reference, UNK was 13th at 4-14. … The Blue Tigers were 11-16 overall, reaching at least 11 wins in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2002-03 and 2003-04. … Jackeya Mitchell has started 77 of 78 games the past three seasons, averaging 7.0 points. … True freshman Hunter Yoakum scored 2,578 points in her four-year high school career. Sophomore Kelsey Williams led her high school team to a state championship, and sophomore Lizzie Nessling averaged a double-double for her high school team. … Lincoln was picked this season to finish 12th in the MIAA, now at 14 teams.

Scouting UNO: A new interim coach (Brittany Lange), two new assistants (Lee Aduddell and Rodney Rogan) and eight new players make their Mav debuts — though Lange had previously been a UNO assistant and Elisha Turek has been elevated from director of basketball operations to assistant coach. … With guard Cathleen Cox out with a second torn ACL, UNO has two returning players. Center Taijhe Kelly, a 6-foot-4 junior, is UNO’s only returning starter, though senior guard Ericka House played starter’s minutes off the bench last year as the Summit League’s highest-scoring reserve. House was voted preseason second-team All-Summit. … Top newcomers include transfers Brianna Bogard (East Tennessee State) and Lanese Bough (junior college) and freshmen Mikaela Shaw and Madi Robson. … UNO is 3-1 all time against Lincoln. … The Mavs have 10 healthy players. … UNO opens the regular season Friday at Louisiana-Lafayette.
