UNO center back Felipe da Silva was named the Summit League defensive player of the week on Monday.
It’s the second weekly award this season for the junior defender.
Da Silva had an assist on the Mavs’ fourth goal and played all 90 minutes in UNO’s 4-0 shutout win over Fort Wayne on Saturday at Caniglia Field. He led a Maverick back line that did not give up a shot on goal.
UNO allowed just five shots in its second straight shutout and fourth of the season.
The Mavs posted a 0.83 goals against average in six conference games to rank second in the league.
