Scouting Chicago State: The Cougars are 1-2 after beating NAIA Indiana Tech and losing to Northwestern 64-33 and Miami (Ohio) 55-39. … Chicago State is shooting 28.5 percent from the field as a team. … Tierra Williams (9.9 points per game) and Paris Williams (8.4) led Chicago State in scoring last year and are doing so again this season with averages of 12.3 and 12.0, respectively. … Paris Williams had 16 points and nine rebounds last season in UNO’s 62-47 win at Chicago State. … Chanel Wilson-Stewart, who averaged 2.9 rebounds last year, is averaging 11.7 boards through three games. … Chicago State is in its first season in the new-look Western Athletic Conference and was picked to finish last in the nine-team league. … Since going 24-10 in 2010-11, the Cougars have gone 6-24 and 4-26 the past two seasons.

Scouting UNO: The Mavericks matched the second-highest point total in school history and recorded their second-highest totals ever in field goals (43) and 3-pointers (13) in Thursday’s 109-52 win against NAIA Graceland (Iowa). The scoring explosion came after 50-45 loss to Alcorn State. … Freshman Mikaela Shaw is averaging 8.3 points and 9.3 rebounds, while fellow freshman Victoria Trowbridge averages 8.3 points and 6.3 rebounds off the bench. … Junior guard Felicia Anderson scored 20 points off the bench in Thursday’s win, and her six 3s were the third-highest single-game total in school history. … Freshman guard Madi Robson had nine points, 10 assists and no turnovers in 33 minutes Thursday in her first career start. … Ericka House (10 points) and Taijhe Kelly (six points), UNO’s only healthy returners, are the only Mavs who played in last year’s 62-47 win over the Cougars. … With 125 career blocked shots, Kelly needs five more to pass Laura J. Anderson (1984 through 1988) for second in school history.
