Jack Hoffman’s run up for USA Today’s ‘Best Emotional Moment of 2013′
Big Red Today Omaha World-Herald

Jack Hoffman’s 69-yard touchdown run during the Husker spring game touched countless hearts. Video of the young cancer patient’s run went viral, and Jack has since met President Obama, got his own Upper Deck trading card and won the ESPY for best moment. Earlier this month, Hoffman was in St. Louis to present a sportsmanship award to the Huskers during the Musial Awards, which recognize sportsmanship moments and achievements from across the country.

Perhaps the biggest win came for Hoffman last month when the 8-year-old’s family learned that his pediatric brain cancer is in remission.

USA Today announced Tuesday that Hoffman’s touchdown is among the choices for the Best Emotional Moment category in its 2013 Year in Sports vote. The other Best Emotional Moment finalists are NBA star Jason Collins coming out, the Mariano Rivera tribute marathon, Andy Murray’s win at Wimbledon, and 17,000 people singing the Star-Spangled Banner at the first Bruins game since the Boston Marathon bombing.
