Harvey Perlman: There’s too much ‘speculation and turmoil’
Big Red Today Omaha World-Herald

In responding to questions from The World-Herald regarding Pelini’s demeanor Friday on and off the field, UNL Chancellor Harvey Perlman said Saturday it was not a matter he was willing to discuss in the media.

“I believe there has been far too much public speculation and turmoil over this matter,” he said. “It is unfair to all involved.”

Perlman said all personnel matters are handled within the athletic department, not the media. He said he’s confident the university has processes in place “to appropriately address anything that may arise. I have no further comment.”

On Friday, Perlman said he did see Pelini’s press conference, but had no comment about the coach’s job status. “That’s Shawn’s call,” Perlman said of Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst. “You’ll know when we know.”

On Saturday, Eichorst released a statement in support of Pelini, which was followed by a similar show of faith by former Husker coach and A.D. Tom Osborne.
