Nebraska-Georgia, one more time

Nebraska is headed for the Gator Bowl to play Georgia on Jan. 1, according to the Jacksonville (Fla.) Times-Union, creating a rematch of the Capital One Bowl last year that the Bulldogs won 45-31 in Orlando.

It would be the second Gator Bowl berth for Nebraska under sixth-year head coach Bo Pelini. The Huskers beat Clemson 26-21 in Jacksonville after the 2008 season.

Nebraska (8-4) also will be making its third straight trip to a Florida bowl after playing in the Capital One the last two seasons.

One major difference for NU is that it won’t see Georgia senior quarterback Aaron Murray. The Bulldogs (8-4) lost the four-time 3,000-yard passer to a torn ACL during a Nov. 23 game against Kentucky.

Prior to last New Year’s Day, the only previous Nebraska-Georgia matchup came in the 1969 Sun Bowl, which the Huskers won 45-6.
