Much like Husker fan Jack Hoffman’s now-famous run (which columnist Tom Shatel recently labeled the top local sports moment of 2013), NU’s Gator Bowl opponent — the University of Georgia — recently took an opportunity to help make one fan’s dream come true.
A video posted to the Bulldogs’ Vimeo account shows Friday’s football practice in which the Make-a-Wish program partnered with Georgia to bring in lifelong Bulldogs fan Joseph Liguori as an honorary tight end.
“He definitely brought his ‘A’ game today, and did a phenomenal job on the field,” Georgia tight ends coach John Lilly said. “We were just really blessed to have him.”
Liguori called the experience “amazing.”
“I’ve dreamed about playing here since I was 5.”
Georgia coach Mark Richt wanted the day to be memorable for Liguori: “If he happens to get in the end zone, I want a celebration like we’ve never seen at the University of Georgia.”
