Gibbs injured in game at DePaul; McDermott played through injury

Creighton guard Grant Gibbs left Tuesday night’s game at DePaul during the first half with what appeared to be a knee injury. Gibbs was helped off the court and went to the locker room. He won’t return for the second half.

Doug McDermott was also noticeably wincing from a left shoulder injury. McDermott was tied for the team lead with Will Artino with seven points and four rebounds at halftime.

McDermott returned for the second half. The Jays led 37-32 at halftime.

Rob Anderson, Creighton’s sports information director, provided this update after Creighton’s 81-62 win:

Creighton coach Greg McDermott told Sports Illustrated’s Brian Hamilton that Gibbs won’t be the only player to have an MRI.
