Recruiting: Nebraska lands New Orleans WR
Sam McKewon Omaha World-Herald

Nebraska picked up its 20th commitment for the 2014 class Thursday in New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr wide receiver Jariah Tolbert. The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder had more than 1,000 yards receiving this season, said Edna Karr coach Nathaniel Jones. Tolbert is a teammate of current NU linebacker commit Jaevon Walton. Another Edna Karr wide receiver, Glenn Irons, has a Husker offer and continues to mull it over, Jones said.

Tolbert picked Nebraska over Utah and is scheduled to visit NU on Jan. 17. Jones said Nebraska’s getting a player with major potential.

“Of all my guys, Jariah has the biggest upside,” Jones said. “You’re talking about a guy who could be a 4.4 wide receiver who could weigh as much as 220 pounds. He’s a big, vertical, downfield receiver. He’ll fit in well in the Big Ten.”

More to come on Tolbert, including Jones’ thoughts on Nebraska’s recruiting efforts in New Orleans.
