Scouting North Dakota State: The Bison have lost nine straight games dating to Nov. 30. … Picked last in the eight-team Summit League, NDSU opened conference play with home losses to Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne (98-89 in two overtimes) and IUPUI (71-46). … Marena Whittle had 34 points and 15 rebounds against IPFW. … Brooke LeMar, who started her college career at Southern Illinois, is fifth in the league with an average of 15.1 points per game and is third in 3-point accuracy at 43.6 percent. … NDSU is 12th nationally with just 12.4 turnovers per game. … NDSU and UNO have two common opponents thus far: UNO beat Air Force 84-56 and lost to Wisconsin-Milwaukee 68-48, while the Bison lost to both, by scores of 82-63 (Air Force) and 74-64 (Wisconsin-Milwaukee). … Bison are ranked No. 294 in realtimerpi.com, while UNO is No. 331. … NDSU leads the all-time series 42-10. The teams split last year, with each winning at home.

Scouting UNO: The Mavs finish a five-game homestand with games against the preseason pick to finish last (North Dakota State) on Thursday, and the five-time defending Summit League champions (South Dakota State) on Saturday. UNO was picked to finish seventh. … UNO leads the Summit in field goal percentage defense (.358), 3-point percentage defense (.273) and blocked shots (5.1 per game). … Ericka House is third in the league at 17.9 points per game. She’s scored in double figures in 14 straight games. … Taijhe Kelly averages 7.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.4 blocked shots — she’s eighth in the country in blocked shots and second in the Summit in rebounds. Kelly is averaging 10.4 rebounds over her last five games. … Madi Robson is fourth in the Summit with 4.8 assists per game. … Mikaela Shaw had 17 points and Lanese Bough had eight points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals as UNO lost its Summit opener 84-62 Saturday against Western Illinois.
