Doug McDermott on Wooden Award midseason watch list
Bluejays Today Omaha World-Herald

Creighton forward Doug McDermott was named to the Wooden Award midseason Top 25 list Wednesday, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced.

McDermott, a Wooden Award All-American the past two seasons, is the nation’s No. 2 scorer at 24.9 points per game. The senior, who averages 7.1 rebounds for the Bluejays (16-3), would become the first Creighton player to earn the award, which was first presented in 1977.

Selected by the Wooden Award Advisory Board, the Top 25 includes the early favorites for the sport’s top individual honor. The players selected are strong candidates for the official voting ballot, though players not chosen to the midseason list are still eligible for the final ballot, which will contain approximately 20 players.
