Scouting UNO: Heading into the weekend, UNO was getting 69.6 percent of its minutes from first-year players — freshmen or transfers. No other Summit League team counted on newcomers more than the 25.5 percent relied upon by South Dakota. The Mavericks’ newcomers were producing 60.3 of their points, 63.6 percent of their rebounds, and 86.7 percent of their assists. … Ericka House posted her seventh game of 20 points or more with 26 in Thursday’s 73-66 loss at Denver. … Mikaela Shaw is averaging 13.5 points in four league games, scoring in double figures each game, after averaging 8.8 points against nonconference foes. … UNO leads the Summit in field goal percentage defense (.362), 3-point percentage defense (.274) and blocked shots (4.8 per game), but in league games ranks fourth (.397), fifth (.323) and fourth (2.8) in those categories. … South Dakota has won eight straight games against UNO, dating to March 1, 2006.
Scouting South Dakota: Preseason All-Summit guard Nicole Seekamp, averaging a team-best 14.1 points, has missed four of the last six games after suffering an ankle injury Dec. 21.
