Event of the week
Class 1-A, 2-A, 3-A District Wrestling Tournaments
When: Noon Saturday
Where: Western Iowa schools will be competing in Class 1-A at Underwood and Nodaway Valley, in 2-A at Atlantic and Sheldon, and in 3-A at Glenwood and Fort Dodge.
What’s at stake: The top two finishers in each weight class will advance to the conventional state tournament, Feb. 20 to 22 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

Danner breaks record
Ar-We-Va senior Paige Danner on Tuesday became her school’s career 5-on-5 scoring leader. In a 76-42 win over West Harrison, Danner had 23 points, 10 steals, six assists and five rebounds. That pushed the Northwestern College recruit’s career scoring total to 1,495 points, breaking the previous mark of 1,475 by Courtney Stoelk.

Milestone for Lansman
With 18 points in a win over Glenwood last Friday, Harlan senior Trey Lansman passed the 1,000-point milestone for his career. He has 1,023 career points entering Friday’s game at CB Lewis Central.

Nodaway valley hits 50
The Nodaway Valley boys basketball team on Tuesday beat Bedford 60-40, completing Pride of Iowa Conference play at 16-0 and running its league winning streak to 50 games. Coach Darrell Burmeister’s Wolverines previously have put together conference winning streaks of 71 and 49 games.

Broghan Kelly, Harlan: The senior 145-pounder recently won his 150th career match.
