STU POSPISIL’S BREAKDOWNS
One right move: Zach Grunke of Seward, who was down double digits in his Class B 160-pound quarterfinal to Sabian Harsh of Scottsbluff, came up with a pinning combination late in the second period.
Can’t miss semifinal: At Class A 170, Jacobi Jones (44-5) of Omaha North faces returning champion Jake Anderson (38-1) of Omaha Creighton Prep. Jones beat Anderson 5-1 for the Metro Conference title to give the Junior Jay his only loss.
Attendance: A rebound in the turnout for the session with Classes A and D — almost 600 more than in 2013 — resulted in an overall increase in first-day attendance. Thursday’s day session (B and C) drew 5,599, with 4,704 watching the Classes A and D session, for a total of 10,303. Last year, the count was 10,036.
